That’s right, kids!

GEEK BY NIGHT IS NOW A WEB COMIC!

Scott Carelli here, and for those of you who used to listen to the little podcast series I created a few years back know that I’ve always had a lot of story to tell with these characters. Unfortunately, Geek By Night the podcast was EXTREMELY difficult to put together week to week (all the people laughing at the idea of it being “week to week” canĀ attestĀ to that…). I was working with the most amazing group of writers and actors that I ever could have asked for but at the end of the day, I wasn’t paying any of them a red cent. Because of this, I couldn’t demand they spend all of the very little free time they all had to on our little podcast. We all loved working on that show, but life always seems to get in the way. It happens. But the story I wanted to tell wasn’t over…

Cue Geek By Night: The Web Comic! Elliot, Gibson, Mindy, Gwen, and Simon are back! I’m going to start from the beginning, but this time get to the end. There’s also a few things that will be different along the way. Case in point: See that fellow hiding behind the counter? That’s our very own Jeff Gibson. Different, huh? There’s a reason for that, and we’ll get to it when we eventually meet Gibson on page 8.

Speaking of artwork, I’m blessed to have the wonderfully talented Scott Tofte on pencils for this book. He’s an artist! He’s a musician! He’s an actor! Is there anything this guy can’t do?! (The answer is NO…). The best part about having Other Scott on board for this little endeavor? Having played the voice of Max Carmichael in the podcast series, he was intimately involved with GBN from it’s very humble beginnings. He knows these characters almost as well as I do, so there’s no one better suited to be drawing this book than him.

On inks and colors we have Adam Sheehan. We got him relatively late in the game, so he didn’t color this particular piece of art you’re seeing right now (Tofte did) but he is 100% dedicated to the rest of the book and will be coloring every page from now on.

Finally, do you see that amazing logo and all of the other pretty text on that page? That’s all thanks to the AMAZING Frank Cvetkovic and his lettering superpowers. He writes his own web comic called Punch-Up which is FANTASTIC and you can read it HERE.

For those of you who are new to Geek By Night, WELCOME! If you want to see what all the fuss is about, you can check out the 10 episode podcast series HERE. Or you can just read the web comic free of spoilers when it launches this Fall.

But what’s it about?

Geek By Night follows the lives of five friends (two of which own a comic shop together) and the shenanigans that come about after a freak accident gives them superpowers. What would geeks who have dreamed of having superpowers their entire lives be like if they ever actually got them? That’s the question I hope to answer with this story, and hopefully, you all have a TON of fun reading it.

Once we launch, the plan is to have a new page posted every Wednesday. That’s a plan that we all want to stick to so we’re going to make sure we have lots of content ready before we launch (hence the not-so-exact “Fall” launch date).

I can’t wait for Geek By Night to kick off this fall, so these characters can live again in a new medium. I, for one, have missed them.
